Advertising Disclosure
This advertising disclosure explains how FindTheMovers operates and earns compensation. Our site is free for visitors; we may receive payment when you submit a quote form and are matched with a moving company. Rankings are computed from public ratings and are not for sale.
Advertising Disclosure
FindTheMovers is free to use. This advertising disclosure explains how we keep the site running and how we handle the information you share when you request planning estimates.
How We Make Money
We may earn compensation when a visitor submits our quote form and is matched with a moving company. The form passes your move details to matched companies so they can provide planning estimates. Rankings are not for sale. We compute them from public Google ratings and review counts, not from payments.
This advertising disclosure applies to our entire coverage area. We cover 663 places and our data includes 1,003 companies across the three states.
How Rankings Work
Our how we rate moving companies page explains the full methodology. The short version: we sort by public Google ratings and review counts. No company can pay for a higher position. Our editorial policy keeps the editorial and business sides separate.
When you browse moving companies in California, moving companies in Arizona, or moving companies in Nevada, the order you see comes from that rating formula.
What Happens to Your Form Data
The quote form collects move details: origin, destination, move size, and contact information. We send this to matched moving companies so they can respond with planning estimates. We do not sell your information to unrelated third parties. Each company you are matched with may contact you directly.
This advertising disclosure covers exactly that flow. We are not a moving company, broker, or carrier. We do not book moves or set prices. The companies you are matched with set their own rates and terms.
Planning Estimates: What to Expect
Costs vary by state, home size, and distance. The figures below are planning estimates based on the ranges in our data.
| Move Type | California | Nevada | Arizona |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hourly (2 movers + truck) | $150-$250 | $130-$210 | $120-$190 |
| Studio / 1-bedroom local | $450-$1,000 | $400-$900 | $380-$850 |
| 2-bedroom local | $800-$1,800 | $750-$1,600 | $700-$1,500 |
| 3-bedroom local | $1,300-$3,200 | $1,200-$2,900 | $1,100-$2,700 |
| 4-bedroom local | $2,000-$4,800 | $1,900-$4,300 | $1,800-$4,100 |
| Long-distance 2-bedroom | $2,800-$6,000 | $2,600-$5,600 | $2,500-$5,400 |
| Long-distance 3-bedroom | $4,500-$10,000 | $4,200-$9,500 | $4,000-$9,200 |
California hourly rates run higher in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. These are planning estimates, not quotes. Actual prices depend on date, inventory, access conditions, and specific company rates.
Checking Licenses Yourself
Every mover you consider should be properly credentialed for your move type. Rules differ by state:
- California: Intrastate movers need a CPUC permit (CAL-T or MTR number). Verify through the California Public Utilities Commission online carrier search.
- Nevada: Intrastate movers need a Nevada Transportation Authority Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. Ask for the certificate number and check it against the NTA list.
- Arizona: No state moving license exists. Check USDOT registration on FMCSA SAFER, Arizona Corporation Commission registration, and complaint history with the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau.
Interstate moves in all three states fall under FMCSA jurisdiction. Look up any company's USDOT number on the FMCSA SAFER company snapshot.
No Endorsements
This advertising disclosure does not mean we endorse or verify any specific company. We do not mystery shop, call, or visit movers. We compile public ratings and make them sortable. You should still get multiple planning estimates, check credentials, and read recent reviews before choosing.
FindTheMovers operates in Arizona, Nevada, and California. Our advertising disclosure is the same across all three states. The site earns compensation only through the quote form matching process described here.

What to check before you book
Verify a mover yourself, even when you find them through our site.
- California: movers need a CPUC permit (CAL-T or MTR number) for intrastate moves. Check the California Public Utilities Commission carrier search.
- Nevada: movers need a Nevada Transportation Authority certificate. Ask for the number and check it against the NTA's certificated carrier list.
- Arizona: no state moving license exists, so check the company's USDOT number on the FMCSA SAFER company snapshot, its Arizona Corporation Commission registration, and complaint history with the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau.
For interstate moves, the FMCSA has jurisdiction regardless of which state the move starts in.
